Financial inclusion is taking on a gender focused approach to making financial services more accessible. In 2016 the World Bank reported that 34% of adults in Sub-Saharan Africa hold bank accounts with formal institutions. Furthermore only 30% of women owned bank accounts compared to 39% of men. The Gender-lens report looks at various innovations and initiatives aimed at developing a balance to the provision of financial access to people in Africa.
